Do you have to have a separate carrier? I dont suppose you could add a line to your current carrier and use that for the watch?

Can you add a second line to a current phone account?

This is also my experience with T-Mobile. I think it's $15, with a $5 discount if you use autopay.

The watch is assigned its own number, but it actually uses the iPhone's number, all billed to the same account.

No, you don't need a separate carrier. Apparently you do have to get an additional line. All major carriers will do this, Verizon has the same policy/price as ATT, an additional line for $10 a month.

The carrier will issue a separate number for the new line, which appears on your bill, but you don't need to remember or give anyone this separate number, you just pair the Watch with your iPhone and the Watch receives and makes calls to and from the phone number you and your contacts are familiar with.

I hope that solves your question.
