Find my iphone disabled after reset on iphone 6s Plus

Had to do an erase and reset on my iphone 6sPlus. Restored settings with icloud backup. then received email that Find My iphone has been disabled, in addition Apple ID and password will not be required for someone to erase, reactivate and use my phone. What to do to fix this?

Turn it back on. On the phone go to Settings > [username] > Find My > Find My iPhone.
