Phone calls from Apple Support

Is anyone else getting phone calls from Apple support? They leave a voice mail as follows:

Voicemail from ***** - "Contact Apple support advisor. Press one to connect with Apple support advisor. Press two to listen to this message again or if you wish to contact us later please call us on our toll free number *****. Thank you."

sounds like a scam to me!!!

It is indeed a scam.


Apple does not make such calls.

All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.

These calls are very common.

the calling numbers might be real, or might be fake; can be spoofed.

More than a few will spoof legitimate telephone numbers.

Email messages and other senders can be and often are spoofed, too.

Apple does not call folks, unless a callback was requested.

If there’s an issue with your Apple ID or such, Apple will lock you out on the servers, and force you to re-authenticate.
