bluetooth trying to connect to samsung tx

trying to get online by bluetooth, but my new 11 is getting hung up by my neighbors samsung tv.

if the tv is on, it tried to connect. i tell it forget device if it gets that far, but it wont.

if he is watching, i cannot connect. otherwise, i may or may not, usually crummy connection. videos hang, if they load at all.

it just keeps looking for other devices, names this one, and usually just sits there spinning.

will not forget device.

pls help, as i am chewing up my hotspot minutes. only took me 3 days to get throttled this month.

which, then, also, vids dont load or hang.

dude insists there are no controls on his tv, only on his bluetooth device,

I think you are a bit confused here. Your iPhone can't connect to your neighbor's TV unless your neighbor permits you to connect to it and you actually click on it. And Bluetooth itself does NOT use mobile data (hotspot or not), that's not how Bluetooth works. Simply don't try to connect to your neighbors TV. You actually can't connect to the neighbors TV without him giving you access anyway.

well, all i can say is that it keeps trying to connect or something. got that little spinning thingie. and yeah, i never really used bluetooth much. a little, tho, and it seemed pretty straight forward, and worked fine till it saw this tb for the first time.

it just keeps looking for it. i gather it isnt rly supposed to do that. he says the tv is not seeing the phone. and like right now, early am, when i know the guy isnt watching, i get the spinner, but am on bt now. fine.

as far as the hotspot- the only point is that i am blowing through those minutes, because the bt is so flaky. i have to take that up w tmobile, cuz they swore the plan i was buying was super unlimited.

i did just get a new ipad w its own number, and need to fire that up. havent had time. that should all get around this.

but it is annoying as ****.

i hate to be confused by idiot proof tech,

As I said above. When Bluetooth is on, the spinning circle is constantly scanning for devices. It is extremely LE (Low Energy), using virtually no power and uses up NO DATA.

When you say you gather it's not supposed to do this, you are incorrect. It IS supposed to do this and is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Because you may see your neighbors TV, doesn't mean anything. If you try to connect to your neighbors TV, you would very unlikely be able to connect.

Again. YOU ARE NOT USING DATA VIA BLUETOOTH. Bluetooth doesn't work that way. Bluetooth itself doesn't use extra mobile data, but if you're using a mobile or wi-fi network to connect to the internet and stream, say, a TV program, then obviously you'll be using up your data allowance (assuming that you have one). Seeing the spinning wheel or your neighbors TV is NOT USING DATA in any way.
