Not always receiving audible text notifications from Android phones

Here's a strange one and it's been happening ever since I purchased this iPhone Xs new. I always receive text messages from other phones just fine but when I get text messages from Non iPhone's (Samsung, etc) I only get the audible notification portion of the message probably a third of the time. I'm constantly having to look at my phone to see if I've missed someones messages simply because my phone didn't "chime". The physical written message comes in just fine.

I've compared my various message settings to other peoples iPhones and everything is set the same/correctly. What would cause my phone not to always give me this audible notification from different brand phones/operating systems?

One second I'll get a message from a friend's Samsung phone and it'll chime just fine but then 30 seconds later on a returned message nothing happens. Drives me crazy! Any thoughts or suggestions?
