New IPhone

I recently got a new iPhone with a new phone number. I connected my iCloud to it and got it all set up but noticed that I was sending and receiving my messages from my email. I tried to put my phone number as the what I received from but it’s greyed out. I turned my iMessages off and turned my phone off and even reset my whole phone all together but nothing it working to get my number registered with apple.
