Pioneer MVH-580BS bluetooth car stereo

I would like to find out if I can change a setting on my iphone 6 12.4.7ios to allow it to read back text messages over my car stereo bluetooth connection. The car stereo is "iphone and ipod compatible".

The phone has no problem connecting to the Pioneer but when I ask it to read back a text message it responds "I cannot do that while the phone is locked". I am able to do everything else via bluetooth. Make phone calls, look up contacts, etc... I just want to know if there is a setting I can change so it will not know it's in the car.....

The ability to have your text messages read out loud through the Bluetooth of a vehicle is unavailable, when an iPhone is locked. There is a feature called, "Announce Messages with Siri" that allows text messages to be read out loud with specific model headphones: Announce Messages with Siri on AirPods
