I have had problems with just one website for the last few months. Their technical department said that I should clear cache and cookies related to this site. How safe is this? What cache and cookie items are OK to remove? An alternative suggestion was to use the Chrome browser for this site rather than Safari. I have Safari Version 12.1.2 (12607.3.10). Advice required, please!

There shouldn't be a problem removing cookies or emptying the cache. Tech Support suggested that you only remove that one sites cookies, so it shouldn't affect other web sites. I would do what Tech Support suggested.
I have done that in the past and I had no problems.
You are welcome. It might help. You would get Safari version 13. You should be able to use Safari version 12 with the OS you have. I am still using Safari 12 and I haven't had any problems with it.
