Control-click not working in Stickies for Mac

The Stickies User Guide for Mac - Apple Support says to "Format a list: Control-click in the list, then choose List. You can change the bullet type." I've tried this and am not getting the List option. Does anyone else have this issue? Anyone have a fix?

I'm on a 2019 MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.6.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome!

Do your see the "List..." option when you control-click? I can see it in Mojave which has the same instructions for formatting as Catalina:

In the example, however, the bullet points were already present when I pasted the list of serial numbers from an ASC post to Stickies.

OK, some enlightenment....

I just ran a quick test with three newly-created test lists: a list using plain text; a list with manually-inserted item numbers; and a list with manually-inserted bullet points. In none of these did the "List.."option appear on control-clicking or right-clicking.

So it seems to work only with lists previously formatted in a different app.

kdmarks:

As per that document:

Add a list to a note

In the Stickies app  on your Mac, do any of the following:

  • Add a list: Press Option-Tab, enter your first item, then press Return.
  • End a list (and add a regular paragraph): Click at the end of the last list item, then press Return twice.
  • Increase list level: Click a line in the list, then press Tab.
  • Decrease list level: Click a line in the list, then press Shift-Tab.
  • Format a list: Control-click in the list, then choose List. You can change the bullet type.

This suggests that the "Control-click in the list" is to change the list formatting, as Allan Jones noted.
