I recently installed Kaspersky Internet Security onto my Macbook Pro 2019 16", but whilst it is mostly running fine, startup from powered off state and startup from sleep have become quite slow, and even after the machine has started up from either of the above mentioned states, opening the first app takes some time.
I wondered if anyone else has noticed this problem?

Kaspersky was banned by the Federal Government 2 years ago for use on any of their computers as being very untrustworthy. Uninstall it ASAP.

All antivirus apps tend to slow performance among other problems they cause. They are not needed on Macs and even less so in Catalina. You should uninstall Kaspersky.
As long as you don't download from 3rd party download sites but only from the developer sites you don't need scanning. And never use uTorrent or BitTorrent to download files. Legitimate developers do not require those apps for downloading. And only allow from Apple and identified developers:
