How to add text to existing file, then print?

I print part of a page. Then want to add to it. I used to be able to add text to a blank untitled page, hold the printed page to the monitor, space down the new text to where it is at the end of the existing text, then print. On the screen the untitled page is shorter than 8 1/2 by 11 page and when printed the new text is far below the last line of the existing text. What happened to WYSIWYG?

Can anyone help?

Thanks Barry, that would work.

I have also come up with the idea of counting the lines of the original printed page, adding new text to a blank page, then spacing the text down to the number of lines of text on the original, and then printing to the original page.

Both work very well,

Thanks

The page on your monitor is scaled to fit the screen, not to exactly match the size of the page you are using.

You might try this process:

  • Print the partial page. Save it as a document (or as part of a document.
  • When it is time to add text to the page, reopen the document.
  • Add the new text to the end of the text already entered.
  • Insert a rectangular shape using the Shapes button.
    • Format the shape to have White fill, NO borders and NO shadow.
    • in the Arrange part of the Format inspector, set the shape to Stay on Page
    • Set (text) Wrap of the shape to None, allowing text to flow under the shape.
  • Drag the handles at the shape's corners and or at the middle of the shapes edges to resize the rectangle to cover all of the previous text (and anything else on the top part of the page.
  • Print the page to the same sheet of pper as used earlier.
  • After examining the result, delete the shape from the document (or move it to a spot in the document where it is out of the way until next needed).

Alternate: Add the new text to the page. Reprint the page. Use the previously printed copy of the page for notepaper.

Barry
