Touch bar never changes when using other apps

Why doesn't my mac book pro touch bar ever change apps? I see all these other laptops having the emoji buttons and the color scheme bar and whenever a certain app is open, the touch bar changes and gives more options. I don't understand why mine just has the same buttons all the time?
