Apple ID

I have 2 apple ID's. One is attached to my MacBook and one to my iPhone 11. I want to use the same ID on both. When I try to change the ID on my iPhone to the one used on my MAC it tells me that the ID I have inputted is already taken and it will not allow me to proceed to put in my password.

Help.
