Safari keeps "This webpage is reloaded because a problem occurred"

Whenever I browse websites and it is random, Safari gets reloaded with the following message "This webpage was reloaded because a problem occurred".

What can I do do resolve this? I cleared my cache, and even reloaded the OS in place.

This does not happen with other browsers on the same machine....

I am out of ideas.

Mac OS: 10.15.5

Safari Version: 13.1.1

Thanks

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

I had the same problem. Always got this problem whenever I made a selection in a dropdown menu on different sites. I found it was the little helpful Program "Magnet" (Window organisation utility). The strange thing this is that it is no Safari-extension just a menubar program. Anyway, if I quit it everything's fine again in Safari. Maybe you have this tool as well? Or some others, because it's quite popular.

I'm not holding my breath, but...I found an article on mrmacintosh.com on 10.02.20 discussing the reloading problem. There was an update to the article saying Apple had released a couple of updates to address the problem. I ran the updates as the article suggested, and so far, so good. mrmacintosh.com/10-14-6-supplemental-update-safari-14-released-to-fix-previous-issues/

I've had the same problem on a few sites. I just upgraded to Safari 14 using Mojave on a MacBook Pro, and never experienced this problem with Safari 13 on any of these sites. Changing the settings for Reader view or Content Blocker (globally or for the specific sites), or disabling my VPN or McAfee anti-virus, doesn't seem to help -- but turning off JavaScript seems to solve the problem (although that creates big problems for other sites that depend on JS, since there is no site-by-site setting for turning JS on/off). I wonder if there's some new Safari 14 security setting/feature that blocks these sites from completing whatever they're trying to do with JS, putting the web page into an error loop?

I may have found a temporary solution to my months-long problem with Safari always crashing with "This webpage is reloaded because of a problem." Although it can happen with any website I visit, I can always recreate the problem by going to the Amazon website and just by going up and down the pages, it will consistently crash Safari with the above error.

I enabled the Develop tab in Safari by going into Safari->Preferences->Advance and enable Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar. Now you should have a menu option in Safari with Develop. Click on that and scroll down to Experimental Features->Reset all to Defaults.

Once that happens, the problem is gone. Now, if you close Safari completely, you will need to repeat this step again to resolve the issue.

I am getting close to finding out what the problem is, but at least I have a functioning browser....

I am having the same problem, and it seems to be getting worse! It's to the point I've had to use my phone to complete simple transactions/tasks with companies/sites I've used for years, because Safari on my Mac keeps trying to reload the page.

I do not have extensions, I've cleared the cache, even cleared history. Chatted with Apple support Daniel on 09.26.20 with case number 101193766344. He tried to help me, said, "we have a great guide we can follow together here..." https://support.apple.com/kb/HT204098 He went through the guide for about 30 minutes, nothing fixed the problem. The mentioned running Yosemite, I told him (again) I am running Mojave, and then BOOM, "your chat ended because of a temporary system issue. Please wait while we connect you with the next available Advisor." I then received a message, "Chat support isn't currently available." I love my Apple products, this is my second iMac, but come on Apple...this is getting ridiculous! I'm no expert, but it appears it's a Safari 14.0 problem.

same problem and same recurring error message with safari 14 on mojave 10.14.6. i have no extensions, have tried clearing cache, turning java script on & off. the browser is practically unusable and no way to easily get back to safari 13 which worked fine on all sites. big fail apple, big mistake on my part for installing it. using chrome now, safari just too much trouble.

the security and safari supplemental updates fixed the safari/mojave problem with not loading websites but still have unresolved problem that popped up with that previous update which has caused seemingly random system freezes for up to a minute when launching some apple and adobe programs. force quit will not work and i just have to wait until everything unfreezes which it eventually does.

My problem started about two weeks ago with a particular web site and now seems to be spreading to other sites. It only affects some pages on one site, but affects google and apple sites totally, as far as I can tell. It also affects the weather service page.

So far, all secured pages work; unsecured pages do not work, unless they show up with "Not Secure" in the address entry box at the top. This is true, even within a site.
