Audio plays but no picture on Iphone 11 Pro
I often do not get the picture/video playing on the phone but audio does - especially with messanger.

Since it's certain that you have an issue with video playback, especially in Messages, you'll want to make sure your device is updated. For help with this check out this document: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Also, check to make sure your user apps are updated. Here's how: Update apps or use automatic downloads.
Lastly, test if you have the issue on an alternate network, and check your Accessibility settings for the status of Auto-Play Video Previews. You will see this in Settings > Accessibility > Motion. For more help, click here: Reduce screen motion on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
