Exercise ring not moving correctly

Hello! I have researched why my exercise ring does not properly credit my outdoor walks and I can’t find any answers with solutions that work. Sometimes my credit is fairly close to how long I’ve walked for, but days like today it is way off (about half credit). I walk “briskly”, my Watch is not loose, privacy settings allow for location....

however, sometimes I am in the woods and have limited GPS. Does “outdoor walk” depend on GPS (instead of heart rate for example) to give me credit? Today I walked 51 minutes but only got 28 min credit on my ring.

I too am having the same problem. Location settings is on, motion & fitness setting is on. I started an Outdoor Walk from my series 5 watch. Walked a little over 30 minutes and was only credited 19 minutes to my Exercise Ring. I know I was in the brisk walk state & that it’s not a matter of heart rate not being high enough because I was at 85-101% of my maximum heart rate. Was walking fast in high heat & humidity. I’m aware you can get complete credit by using Other Workout instead of a specific one but then you loose pace info & GPS map. Please fix this Apple because I am seeing a lot of people having the same issue along with not being reminded to start or stop workouts even though those settings are on as well. I have reset watch, calibrated watch & reset watch calibration. Fitbit is doing a better job with all this at a whole lot cheaper price. Please fix this!!

To earn 1 minute of exercise credit(green ring);

Travel a full minute at a brisk walking pace(3.3 mph approx) or above.

Raise your heart rate to approx 75% of your maximum.

When you're at around or above this heart rate for the entire minute you'll receive 1 exercise minute credit.

If you pause or slow down then you won't get any exercise credit.

I usually walk with my hands in my pockets so my arms don't swing at all,GPS measures the distance so no arm waving required.3.3mph equals 18 minutes per mile,your screenshot says 20.11 per mile,so not quite fast enough to register as full exercise minute credits.

I was having the same issues and I had talked with an agent and that is what he told me to do. So I went out and took the short walk to calculate my steps and it seemed to help. However, I was also told this, when you open the workout that you want click on the three dots in the upper right corner and choose which one you want recorded, there will be 4 options, I clicked on distance and it is working so far. Now today I went for a bike ride and clicked on outdoor cycle and chose distance again and it did not apply the ride to my rings. I think some of these Apple watches have gliches that needs to be addressed. I hope you find some solutions, I am still looking for one. Good luck.

GPS measures distance,your heart rate has to be at least 75% of your maximum for a full minute in order to get 1 minute of exercise credit.Did you pause or slown down while you were walking?.
