MobileSync Backup Folder on Laptop taking up too much space...

I'd like to free up space on my laptop and was wondering if I could remove the 50Gig file in the MobileSync Backup folder. My iPhone is actively being backed up to my iCloud account so I was wondering if I can just remove the file. I also have iCloud sharing turned for my Photos and other important apps. I noticed the last modified date for the backup file is 5/30/2020 but don't know what would have triggered the update to the file since I've been backing up to iCloud for as far as I can remember.

If the date modified is 5/30/2020, that is probably the last time you backed up the phone to the computer. Move the file to the Desk top, back up the phone to the computer, and if that is successful, delete the file on the Desktop.

If you don't need the file, you should be able to remove it.

I guess I just want to be 100% sure that I no longer need it before I remove it. Also, I'm not sure if I'm missing something from my understanding of the usage of the file because it has a last modified date of 5/30/2020. Like I said earlier, I'm backing up my iPhone and photos to iCloud and have for several months. Does that mean I can remove it?

Sounds like a plan. I checked my iPhone, the last successful back up was earlier this morning, so I went ahead and deleted the huge Backup files. Thanks for your help.
