What’s app back up

Hi


my what’s app back up is stuck on preparing for a week now. I have checked the iCloud and storage space, toggled the what’s app on iCloud off then on again, reset network settings etc but nothing works. I have more than enough space left too as I’m on 200gb

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16

this is what I just posted, maybe it will help you too.


I had the same issue, what I just did is following:

  • switched off WiFi on my phone
  • connected via hotspot with my other phone (different number) and started the backup, which did start (saw percentage), but it didn't move forward
  • then I disconnected the hotspot on my other phone
  • reconnect my WiFi again on phone with the whatsapp and it made a backup.

No idea if this is a lasting solution, but for now I have a backup again!

If you are taking backup on iCloud for the first time it does take a long time.


Please check the following

  1. iCloud has enough storage space.
  2. You are connected to the internet over WiFi
  3. Your device is connected to a power source and charging.


If you are taking backup for the first time and using the "Backup Now" option then Set the screen Auto-Lock to None. Keep the iPhone on the same backup screen and do not use the iPhone till the backup completes.


Or


Keep the iPhone plugged into a power source and remain connected to the internet over WiFi. Leave the iPhone overnight with Screen Locked.

Mine has been intermittent for months now. I’ve found that it only works sometimes when I turn the phone off and then back on again and go into what’s app to manually press ‘back up’. Even doing this, it doesn’t work everyday.


I have tried every single suggestion on this forum but there’s still no way of getting it to automatically back up every day or even on days I press back up.


ongoing issue since November 2022. What’s app have done nothing to rectify. Ludicrous

Finally!!!


your story matches up to mine to the T and it may have something to do with the IOS update as it only started happening since iOS 16.1.1.


no one has been able to confirm or provide a solution yet. I have more than enough space, deleted lots, more than I needed to actually. Restarted phone, deleted back up and backed up on iCloud again, reset network settings, everything mentioned above but no luck.

Just tried again, and it worked again.


Also sent an email to Whatsapp, got standard email back that they had already answered my problem, so I emailed them, that I wanted a status update on how they are doing with the solution, and that I understand they are working with a protocol, but I wanted to stay informed. And that I can also keep people who have the same issue informed....Told them I already know some people who have the same issue :)
