WhatsApp- When trying to backup my chats… WhatsApp is stuck in ‘preparing’

my WhatsApp normally backs up automatically (set as daily)

received a notification that it hadn’t backed up since Monday

when I tried to back it up manually, it’s stuck in ‘preparing’

Things I have tried:-

checked storage which has 98GB free space

soft reset on iPhone

toggled off/on wi-fi , Bluetooth, airplane mode

reset Network Settings on iPhone

In settings on iPhone, in iCloud , toggled off WhatsApp app then whilst it’s still off, soft reset my iPhone again, toggled WhatsApp back on again in iCloud and tried to backup WhatsApp again, but it’s still stuck in ‘preparing’

Any ideas to resolve this issue, would be much appreciated

I found a weird solution on Macrumors:

"Try a manual backup, if a few seconds pass and it’s still on “preparing” > force close the app and try again.

Repeat as necessary. It should work after a few attempts. Do it quickly (not sure if this is important but’s the way I do), don’t wait between attempts."

It works ... for now.
