I only want Siri to respond if I click the side button
I first noticed it when my husband I were chatting about going some place and all of a sudden Siri started talking on his phone. (He has everything turned off - 5s). I figured out how to turn his off.
Then I tried saying Hey Siri with my iPhone 11 Pro and sure enough, she replied (can't remember what she said).
I thought I turned it off in settings but, no it didn't work.
I finally figured it out when I purposely said Hey Siri and told her Turn off Siri! She said I can't do that but gave me the link to the setting that could. All OK now.

Hi Barbara,
We appreciate you reaching out to us here in Apple Support Communities. While "Hey Siri" can be a really convenient feature, we understand that not all users want to use it, and we want to ensure your iPhone works as expected. To get started, can you let us know which iPhone model and iOS version you're currently using? Also, what exactly happens when you say, "Hey Siri"? Do you hear a response like, "Sorry, I didn't get that." or something else? These details will give us a good place to start from.
Take care, and we look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Hi Barbara,
We're really happy to hear this has been resolved, and the Siri feature has been turned off.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach back out again.
Have a great rest of your day.
