Disable Apple watch 5 notifications for emergency bypass contacts

Is there a way to disable Apple 5 watch notifications for contacts with emergency bypass on?

scenario:

my wife’s diabetes monitor texts me when net blood sugar is approaching a dangerous level. I set the monitors phone number up with emergency bypass on and a loud alarming ring tone so I will always hear the notification even with my phone on silent. This has always worked great and the ringtone wakes me up at night.

then I bought an Apple Watch 5 and now the Diabetes monitor contact number is silent on my watch or just dings once on my watch when silent mode is off. I need that contact To always alert on my phone and not attempt to alert on the watch. I want to still receive other notifications on my watch so I don’t want to disable alerting all together either.

Hello Impman1!

We see you are trying to configure your Apple Watch to send notifications to your iPhone rather than your Apple Watch specifically. In this case this is not a feature we currently have available, in terms of setting specific contacts to send notifications to specific devices.

You can see all options and configurations available for notifications with your Apple Watch here: Notifications on your Apple Watch

One option would be to turn off wrist detection, which would then send all notifications to both devices to ensure you always get those messages sent to your iPhone as well. However that does disable a few other features such as Apple Pay or getting standing credit, so it may not be ideal. You can turn that setting off by going on your iPhone to the Watch app and selecting: My Watch > General > Wrist Detection, if you would like to give it a try.

We do love to hear what we can improve and this would be a great feature suggestion as well if you have time to submit that to us here: Product Feedback

Hopefully that gives you some insight on options available for this case. Let us know if you have any questions and have a fantastic rest of your day!
