Transferring data from old iPad to newly purchased one

Good Morning.

I have just ordered a new 12.9” iPadPro from Apple store which is due to be delivered in 3 weeks. I have signed up to part exchange my existing iPad air2. The instruction said that I will receive a box in which to return the iPad air2, however I am needing and wanting to transfer all of the existing files/photo’s etc over to my new machine.

I was hoping that a tech guru at the apple store could do this for me (I have signed up for Apple Repair+).

My question therefore is this: Can I wait until my new iPad Pro has arrived and I have taken it into store with my existing machine for a data transfer BEFORE I return the old machine for Part Exchange? And if so, can I just leave the old machine at the store?

I hope this makes sense.

Thank you for you help in advance.

Good morning Scott,

To feel more comfortable, I would contact that Store technicians and ask them if they can do that for you.

If their answer is "no", I would suggest that you create a full backup of your current device (when you have that backup, your stuff is safe... just in case).

And these are the instructions to perform on your current iPad:--> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then you need to restore data from that backup to the new iPad:--> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or

iPod touch from a backup

Regards and best of luck.
