losing quality when importing photos

I have been taking photos with my DJI Phantom 3 Pro and when looking at them on my SD card or external hard drive I transfer them to, the pictures are very clear; however, when I transfer a few to photos on my MacBook, the quality seem to be reduced pretty significantly. I usually just use the "Add to Photos" button, but I was wondering is there is a different way I should be adding the photos or if there is another reason I may be losing quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you use "Add to Photos " you are sharing a preview of the photo, which can be of a lesser quality than the original.

Try, if importing the original phots from the SD card using he "Import" dialog in Photos will make a difference.

In Photos use the command "File > Import" and select the folder with the photos.

Are the photos RAW files? If the photos are in a RAW format, Photos may only be able to show a JPEg preview, if the RAW format is not supported.

I have both raw and jpeg versions and have tried putting both into photos with the same result. I tried using import as you mentioned and got the same result as well. I have attached a screenshot with the photo from my SD card on the right and Photos on the left. To me the on from the SD card looks a little sharper and more dynamic and that seems to go away in Photos
