Photos Won't Import to Mac From iPhone

I was in the process of trying to backup my iPhone 11 to my MacBook Air when I noticed that a few of the photos listed under my phone in "Photos" on my Mac weren't importing. I tried to import them again, but no luck. 3 of the photos are the same as any other on my iPhone and the other 2 have actually been deleted from my iPhone already, I'm not sure why they are showing up at all. I do not use iCloud at all, and do not wish to, but I'm wondering why this is suddenly happening? I've never encountered this problem before.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

I always import images and videos from iOS devices with Applications > Image Capture.app. Does it work better?
