Advanced MAC Tuneup

I have somehow picked up Advanced MAC Tuneup and want to know if it is legitimate and/or how to get rid of it.

It is not. In fact there are no tuneup software that are legit.

AppDelete 4.3.3 can delete most of the components just by dragging the application into the window of AppDelete.

Then use Devon Technologies EasyFind to locate and remove components while in safe mode (booted with the shift key).

You need to be looking for tuneup, cleaner, keeper, macpaw, keeper and zeobit files and removing all of the Mac Cleaner, Mackeeper related files while in safe mode. Note EasyFind may not trash directly and they may reappear. If they do, show them in Finder and drag to the Trash.

Once in the trash, control-click each item and hit delete immediately, if there are other items in the trash you wish to keep in the trash.

A final step would be to install Malwarebytes and run its free release. No need to give them your email address.
