I cannot figure out the Activity app with length of exercise time

I have a Series 5 watch running the latest OS. Ever since the last update, the exercise time credited to my activity circle seems to be way off when using the Outdoor Cycle Open goal. I *think* I understand how this data point is determined, but it is very frustrating. Today I rode for just over 70 minutes and went 10.48 miles.

My exercise activity circle shows I rode for a total of 16 minutes? I am 65 years old, overweight, and pedaled my *ss off. I used to always meet my exercise and movement goals on my bike rides which range from 10-13 miles a day.

If I am to understand how this works, the watch "determines" how much of that 70 minutes I should get credit for? I've tried all the suggestions I've seen in the forum. No luck. I can't figure out why all of a sudden I am no longer closing my exercise and movement circles when before the watch OS update, I closed them with every single 10-13 mile ride.

A lot of us have this same issue.

I can recall reading an article (but I can't find it now) that talked about with cycling you have to be over 75% of your heart rate capacity.

So at your age of 65

220 (max rate a heart can go) - 65 (your age) = 155 is your max rate

Exercise falls between 70-90% of this 155

So you minimum rate for exercise is 108 and your max should be 139

This is your training range.

The minimum to count for outdoor cycle is I recall what the article said is 75% so your min would be 116

So the bottom line even if I have not given the correct % is that you need to get your heart rate up.

Also make sure you are wearing the watch tight enough and not too tight

Also make sure that it is being worn where you will not pinch it or your wrist while gripping the handle bars

This will ensure that the sensors are in proper contact

Happy exercising!!

Remember the goal is to exercise no matter what is recorded, all counts towards your health!
