why can't I change the device that I'm sharing My Location from in the Find My app? I'm trying to get the Find My app to show the location of my mac book as my iphone. I've followed to directions on Apple Support and tried from the app and from settings but whenever i try to tap on the "My Location: This Device" it won't let me. there's no option to choose another device.

When Share My Location is turned on, you can share your location with friends, family, and contacts from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Find My. You cannot have a Mac as the location setter like you can with an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad.
If you have another iPhone, iPad or an iPod Touch then you can open Find My and click on the ME tab (Bottom Right) and then SCROLL DOWN and chose share location from this device.

Anyway, to change showing your location from an iPhone to an iPad, on the iPad you would go to Settings > Privacy > Share My Location > Use This iPad as My Location.
The process on a Mac is very likely analogous.
on the mac through the settings or through the Find My app? i can't get it to work on the app unless i'm clicking on the wrong thing
You choose another device from the device you wish to choose. I don’t have my Mac in front of me at the moment, but I know you choose this device from there if that’s what you want.
