Java won't Update - XPC Connection Error

Trying to update Java on Mac OS 10.15.6 using the Java updater app in System Preferences - and also from the download on the Oracle site - fails, with the error "XPC Connection Error."

The updater says it's a critical update (see attached screenshot) - but it fails.

Is there a solution to this?

cannot Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.1 update my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) cannot up-date OS Big Sur version 11.5.1. pop-up massage said internet connection problem but my connection is OK. meantime my OS still 11.4 and PC body become heat short time my other gear such as Mac mini or iPhone were without any problem to up-date version 11.5

Problems with Big Sur OSX 11.3.1 update to OSX 11.4 I am running Big Sur OSX 11.3.1 on my Mac Mini (Late 2014) all running fine. I have today attempted to update to OSX 11.4 which was offered in the last few days. It hangs when preparing the down load at 15mins tried it twice with the same result.
