Mail for Catalina 10.15.6

Mail failed to import my emails from the previous version after the upgrade to Catalina 10.15.6. The message says to check there is space in my Home folder: but I cannot open Mail to do that! So now I have no access to my emails. Please help... Many thanks.

There is no "Home" folder in Mail. It is in the Finder. It is where all of your files and folders are stored for your user account.

Use the cmd-shift-H shortcut to open the Home folder. Make sure there is at least 20GB of free space on your startup drive.

Not sure what to do at this point.

I had what I think is a similar problem with Mail. Couldn’t resolve it so I erased the drive, reinstalled, and migrated from my backup during the setup assistant. I’m my case, it was failing to display emails and quitting Mail because there wasn’t enough space.

A temporary solution for me was to delete all local snapshots created by Time Machine.

Copy and paste this command into Terminal to clear out any local snapshots.

tmutil deletelocalsnapshots /

That might clear up some space that isn't reported as being used.

Open Mail and see if it will import.
