My iPhone XS Max does not show Facebook or Messenger in my listing of Applications under Settings/Notifications, therefore I am not able to turn on notifications for those apps. I’m unable to receive my notifications by text from Facebook in order to login to my Facebook account because it is sending me a login code, but I am not getting the code. What can I do?

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue persists, we'd recommend uninstalling the Facebook and Messenger App, and reinstalling them.

Thanks for the response! We understand even after updating, restarting and reinstalling the app you are still having issues. Take a look at Facebook's guide for handling SMS verification issues.
I didn't receive the code from Facebook to confirm my mobile phone number.
Once we get you verified through SMS we'll be able to see if the problem is fixed.

I have tried all of these and my Facebook and messenger apps are still not showing in my listing of apps under notifications. When I try to login to Facebook it gets me to a screen where it tells me to enter the code the SMS code that was sent to me. I am not receiving any SMS code from Facebook to be able to enter there. What can I do?
This still is not working. It appears that my cell phone number is not linked to my Facebook account so I am not getting the sms code and it will not allow me to do the 2-step authentication. How can I log back into my Facebook account if it is not recognizing my cell phone number?
