my macbook pro will not connect via ethernet or wifi. will only connect via hotspot. Any suggestions would be helpful

New problem, old problem... what changed to precipitate this issue?
Is this your personal machine or a business machine bound to Enterprise, mobile, active directory list?
Check your DNS entered and make a change if necessary, from
>System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS
ex.
From the same Preferences pane, verify you have no Proxies set.
Test your DNS server using Network Utility on Mac - Apple ...
