Issue with iPad and Apple ID

I have an old 2nd Generation iPad that is currently signed into my old Apple ID. I deleted my email address and got a new one that I now use for my Apple ID. The iPad is not erased, and thus doesn't have activation lock, but Find My iPad is enabled, and it requires me to enter my password to disable it and erase the device to set it up as new. If I enter my old password or my new password, it doesn't let me. I assume this is because the old Apple ID no longer exists. Is there any way to disable Find My iPad?
