My ipad 2 speaker stopped working. Sliding the ringer in the Sounds setting works, but that is the only sound that I can hear. When making a facetime call, I noticed that the speaker button cannot be activated. My Do Not Disturb is not on and when I move the volume lever, it shows that the sound would be raised or lowered.

Try resetting iPad's settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Be certain you do not select Erase All Content and Settings as this will erase all of your information. It is a good idea to perform a backup of your iPad prior to resetting its settings.

THANK YOU for your quick response. My ipad is actually the Pro model (ipad2 was my last one), however your suggestion worked and I am very appreciative. Also, thank you for putting the exact directions to follow. I definitely did not want to erase all contents.
