I am trying to upgrade my MacBook pro from high sierra to mojave but the installer i am trying to use at the App Store is damaged and can't be used. Now what does one do? I have some programs I use frequently that may not function properly with Catalina.

When you go to the App Store does it say 'Open', I bet it does.

The error you are experiencing is the App Store detecting a copy of the

Install macOS Mojave.app in your Applications folder.

Locate it, move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Connect your mac to your router rather than WiFi, restart your mac

open Safari, do not use Firefox and click on this link,

How to upgrade to macOS Mojave - Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS Mojave,

you will be directed to the App Store Mojave page.

And this time it should say 'Get' or 'Download'.

Do not use the mac while it is downloading or any

other devices that share the same internet connection.

I already installed the Mojave installer in my applications folder so following a youtube link, I disconnected my internet, changed my system date from todays date to 2018 and then it loaded Mojave, It takes at least 45 min for me to load from HS. Then it took another 30 mins to go from 10.14 to 10.16. After that I reconnected the internet and set back my date to correct date and time. Also I unclicked auto update and didn't put in the latest security patch because that cause my HS to really get screwy after I installed it. so I'm staying where I am till they figure out whats wrong with the 04 security update.
