Airpod pro will not stay connected to iPhone x

AirPods pros will not maintain connection to iPhone X. Connection drops mid call. I have tried to un-pair and re-pair, restart iPhone, no change. currently running iOS 13.6. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
