Right generation Apple pencil

I received the wrong generation of Apple Pencil as a gift for my iPad model and was wondering if it’s possible to exchange it for the correct model?

If you bought it within the last 14 days from Apple, yes. If from somewhere else it depends on the return/exchange policy for that store.
