Use an Apple USB SuperDrive:
Use Apple DVD SuperDrive and use a iTunes to Play It. For a newer Mac, you may need one of these to connect it: USB C to USB Adapter

Depends on the DVD player, and the ports on the MacBook Air. If it's an Apple SuperDrive, that has a USB-A plug with may connect directly to an older Mac, or need a USB-C-to-A adapter for a newer Mac.
