My Apple Product Service Problem
Hi,
I am a Turkish citizen who has lived in Germany temporarily for several months. When I lived there I bought an Iphone 11 from Amazon DE. After several months, I started seeing a black stain in my camera which appears on every photo I take which obviously ruins the whole experience.
For this, I created an appointment with a technical service in Turkey as the phone support told me that my product guarentee is also valid in Turkey. When I went there, they asked a receipt which includes the device serial number however obviously Amazon Germany did not include this info on my receipt. An article of yours states something like “if the seller receipt normally includes this info, then it is required”, and as I understand this serial number info is not a must but is is a thing nice to have. Also, it appears that Amazon Germany normally does not include this info, which makes me think in Germany the serial number is not really required when the technical service care is required.
Here my questions are,
- Is really the serial number a must for the iphone guarantee?
- If it is a must, why it is not clearly stated in the “required documents for the service care” article?
- When I call the apple phone support, they tell me to ask Amazon Germany to provide the serial number. If they cannot/do not provide this, what are my options?
- If Amazon Germany does not provide this info normally and they sell maybe hundreds of iphones in a day, how do German technical services handle this? If it is not required in Germany, then why is it reuired in Turkey? How would you explain this inconsistency?
- Is the service center trying to avoid fixing my device or do they really need it because of some laws or a solid reason?
