Diagonal crack on an 2019 Apple Macbook Pro 16"

Dear all,

This is devastating. I have an office provided 16" Macbook Pro. I completed my work at 10 pm, closed the lid, and slid the laptop in my bag.

When I opened the laptop the next morning to resume work at 10 am, these were the behaviors:

1. I saw a flicker on the screen.

2. After I restarted, I saw a similar flicker on the sign in screen, etc.

3. Later, after a few restarts, I saw a diagonal crack on the screen.

This is highly unexpected and heartbreaking because I remember in the best of my memory I closed the lid gently and kept it safely in my bag.

The apple folks are definitely not ready to accept that this could be a screen defect or something related to thermal heat etc.

Can anyone please tell me if anyone has experienced this and if there are any solutions to these issues?
