A solution to slow iTunes downloads

Just in case this helps anyone who is also having problems with iTune downloads (especially movie downloads) being slower than other downloads, check out this simple but seemingly effective 'cure', because it is currently just working for me in 2020 !

I have asked previously why iTunes downloads seem never to utilise the full download bandwidth but no solution worked.

The answer is to turn off the IP6 protocol when downloading from iTunes. It is easy to do, and easy to turn it back on. I do not have a Mac but I'm guessing the workaround is the same principle.

In Windows go to NETWORK AND SHARING, select your connection e.g. . Ethernet, select proprties and uncheck the IP6 protocol. Reboot. Turning it back on is the reverse.

I do not have the knowledge to know why it works, or if there is a reason why I need to turn IP6 back on, and I hope someone more knowledgeable may comment. But the thing is that it is working for me anyway guys.

I noticed that the biggest change was after making the change. Over an hour the average download speed has decreased a bit and so it may be stabilising. I have no idea, but I will update this post if this solution stops working and I am back to square one.
