My Photo Stream

I replaced my 6s with an 11 Pro. I think all settings are the same. Now, the iPhone 11 refuses to upload new photos to “my photo stream”. Any suggestions?

You can use My Photo Stream with these devices after you set up iCloud on them:

If you recently created your Apple ID, My Photo Stream might not be available. If My Photo Stream isn't available, use iCloud Photos to keep your photos and videos in iCloud.

No. I will not use iCloud photos because I am not willing to pay for it. I just bought a new phone; it ought to be able to do what the old phone did, without huge hassle.

I just did a complete wipe, restore, reload from back up and then turned off and on all the settings that Apple Support shows. I think it finally worked, even though nothing was different than before. System software choked on something, I think.)
