Brand new macbook pro not charging

I received a brand new macbook pro 13" (a1989) and when I opened up the box and used the new charger on my laptop the battery won't go past 0%. If I unplug the charger it instantly shuts down and the battery condition says "replace now".

This is a brand new laptop never used so I'm super confused why this is happening. Has anyone gone through this? If so - please help!

Sounds like an out-of-box failure. Contact Apple or whoever you bought the Mac from, and arrange for a replacement.
