Backup | Time Machine

Hi,

This is belt and suspenders...I just need confirmation.

Very important file on my computer in Scrivener. It's stored in the app and a backup file is stored in another location on my hard drive. I back up my whole hard drive using Time Machine, onto Time Capsule.

Neither the application nor the files are listed in Options - Exclude these items in the backup in Time Machine preferences. That means I AM backing up the app and the files, yes?

Is there a way to confirm it's being backed up--can I see into the files Time Machine stores, without actually restoring the backup?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

By default, Time Machine backs up literally everything on your Mac unless you specifically "Exclude" a file or folder that might contain the file or data that you want to back up.

Open Time Machine and give it some time to load if you are on a wireless connection.

Use the timeline scale at the far right of the screen to go back in time and select a given date

Use the Finder interface to navigate to find the application.........which might be in the "Applications" folder and the data file at the other location on your Mac

If you see the files, then you know that they have been backed up

Check a few other random dates to confirm that the backups have occurred on each of the dates

Click Cancel to get out of Time Machine and come back to the Mac desktop
