"No Service" even though wifi network shows up, password correctly submitted

I'm setting up a new SE for a family member. In the upper left corner, where it should indicate ATT, "No Service" persists, even though I have inserted the wifi network name and password. I'm not sure how to finish setting up, and make sure Wifi is functional. Thanks.

The WiFi network connection bears no direct relation to your cellular connection. They are two different radios in your iPhone connecting with two different service points. Your problem is with your iPhone's cellular radio talking with AT&T, and has nothing to do with your WiFi connection.

Did you get a new SIM from AT&T for use with the new iPhone or did you take the SIM out of the previous phone? If you took it out of a previous phone (like an old 2.5G phone), the old SIM may be incompatible with your new 4G LTE iPhone. You will need to visit or otherwise contact AT&T and get them to furnish you with a new 4G LTE SIM and move your mobile telephone number onto that new SIM.

Good luck.

Hey CommunitiesNC,

We understand that your family member's iPhone SE is showing No Service instead of their mobile provider.

Here is a helpful article on steps to take when an iPhone can't connect to your cellular network and No Service is showing instead:

If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad

We also want to include this following article on how to connect an iPhone to Wi-Fi:

Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.
