HELP with iPod nano

Dear sir madam, my iPod nano doesn’t connect with my laptop, it doesn’t ask me if I want to go in the machine it doesn’t even open a file when I go to ; this pc? I want to put music on it but I can’t do this because my laptop doesn’t even make connection with I, I bought 2 different iPod nanos and both of them do not make a connection
