how to fix internal microphone on macbook air

i've gone into settings and all the microphone input and output settings are all turned on saying it should work but when i tested it no bars came up and it doesn't detect any sound, it works for siri but not any other apps like microsoft teams and facetime

any idea how to fix this ?

Resetting NVRAM could solve sound related issues.
