time machine back up to internal hdd

Hi. I'm booting an iMac from an external SSD running Catalina. I've configured APS Volume in System Preferences - File Sharing - Select Container - Advanced Options - Share as TM Backup. When I try to configure in TM that to be the backup destination it is not in the list of available destinations. The same internal drive IS available as a backup destination to other iMacs on the same network.

Anyone have any idea why?

Thanks

Found the answer. The internal drive needs to be reformatted, then it's available.
