multiple ID drama!

trying to help my friend set up her new MacBook. She has several apple IDs one gmail one which she has used for the App Store and iTunes but the other one is an apple .Me ID which has her phone number associated with it. basically at the moment the only we can get iMessage ,FaceTime to work across all her devices iPhone iPad and Mac is to have the computer/phone/iPad signed in as the @gmail ID but iMessage and facetime signed in as @me. We cannot remove the phone number from .Me and it won't allow is to add it to the @gmail one as it is in use by a different account. is this usual. and how can we sync the contacts from iCloud as they are currently only on the phone and not the computer

Not being able to add the phone number to 2 Apple IDs is not unusual. Why can't she use the @me.com for Messages/FaceTime and the Gmail for everything else?

Are the phone and the computer using the same Apple ID for iCloud? If so, try going to iCloud.com using a computer browser to see if the items are there and whether they are from the device or the computer. That should show whether the device or the computer isn't syncing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud (Apple ID if you are using Catalina) and stop syncing. Wait a couple of minutes, then recheck syncing. If the device, go to Settings/Your Name/iCloud and do the above. As a last resort, you can also try signing out of iCloud and then sign in again.
