Audible app automatically plays - iPad pro

I have recently installed the Audible app on my IPad. The app is closed after each use, but when I plugin my earbuds, it randomly starts up. While I am watching a video, playing a game or reading an article, if my headphones are attached....it starts. I had this issue previously with Spotify and ended up deleting the app from my iPad, with no help at all from either side.

is there a setting or something I am missing, to keep this from happening? It is so annoying! And I use my headphones all the time! Please offer help besides, turn the app off. I have already done that.
