Hyperdrive connection issues

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a HyperDrive Wireless Charger USB-C Hub — 5/7.5/10W Qi Charger, 8-in-1 USB-C Hub × 1 to connect it to one of the USB-C ports in my 2019 27" iMac and thus add extra ports without having to reach to the back of the computer.

The issue is that after connecting the Hyperdrive, it turns on and off intermittently every 3-4 seconds. It seems like maybe the power provided to the USB-C port is not enough?

Please assist if you can. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Mayavirupa,

Thank you for posting! Just to make sure we're on the same page, you have two different hubs connected to your Mac, a HyperDrive Wireless charger USB-C Hub and an 8-in-1- USB -C hub do we have that right? If so, if you only have the HyperDrive hub connected, do you experiencing the same issue? How about if you only have the 8 in 1 USB- C hub connected?

Issues related to power can often be resolved by resetting the SMC on your Mac. Check out this article on how to reset it: How to reset the SMC of your Mac.

Hope that helps!

Hi, there!

Mario49, the Hyperdrive USB-C Hub and the 8-1 hub are one and the same. It is just a very long name for a single unit. It is not self-powered. It is supposed to be connected to one of the USB-C ports of the iMac, and allegedly pass that power through to all of the ports that has on it including other USB ports, HDMI, etc.

I tried to reset the SMC to no avail.

Thank you for your response.
